Salalah’s Khareef Season Draws Record Number of Tourists

Salalah has once again become a hub for tourists during the 2025 Khareef season, attracting over 827,000 visitors, a 2.1% increase compared to last year’s 810,000. Notably, Omani visitors surged by 71.5%, reaching 591,577, highlighting the growing domestic interest in the seasonal spectacle.

From June 21 to August 15, the otherwise arid Dhofar region transforms into a lush, green paradise. The combination of cooler temperatures, refreshing monsoon rains, and verdant landscapes creates a unique experience for both local and international travelers.

Wadi Darbat waterfalls, rolling mountains, and misty valleys remain the top attractions, while new eco-friendly tourism initiatives aim to raise awareness about preserving the region’s natural beauty.

Families from across Oman flock to Salalah to enjoy the season, reliving memories of past Khareef visits, while tourists explore the green hills, hike through waterfalls, and experience the monsoon magic firsthand. The season is not just a visual delight but also a therapeutic escape, offering peace, relaxation, and a deep connection with nature.

The Khareef season is widely celebrated for its ability to blend cultural heritage with natural splendor, providing visitors with an unforgettable experience of Salalah’s unique charm.
